About Us

The S&K / Zeco Story

In 2004, Ross and Tammy Nitta moved from Hawaii to Arizona with their two daughters, Shari and Kelli.  Ross’s vast knowledge of operating supermarkets from his family’s business in Hawaii convinced him that he wanted to start his own business with the same entrepreneurial spirit here in Arizona. Using the first letters of his daughters’ names, S & K Sales became the new business. S & K would soon grow to be the largest distributor and packer of cooking oils in the Southwest USA.

In 2013, inventor Conrad Canter and his wife Nancy introduced the one of a kind Zeco Filtration machine to the Nitta’s.  Seizing the opportunity, Ross and Tammy invited Conrad and Nancy to become partners at S & K Sales.  From this new invention combined with an oil distribution system, the Zeco Oil Depot / Oil Management Program was born. The phrase “BETTER OIL…BETTER FOOD” would soon become the slogan for S & K Sales.

In 2018, S & K Sales brought Matt McMahon on as president. Matt was a long-time restaurant entrepreneur from NYC to AZ. Capitalizing on Matt’s 40 years of leadership in the restaurant industry, S & K would expand its growth potential nationwide.

Annually we collect 3.7 million pounds of recyclable used cooking oil. Thanks to our Zeco filtration we can reuse the Oil in the production of cattle feed and chicken feed.

Founders & Managing Partners

Ross and Tammy, after working the family business back in Hawaii, decided to make the giant leap to the mainland, first to California and then in 2004 to Arizona.

Ross was able to secure a location that was serviced by railcar in Glendale, AZ. He set up shop selling oil to a few bakeries and restaurants.

20 years later, S & K now services over 1,000 restaurants in Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, California, and Texas. S & K Sales also packages olive oils and specialty mixes for distribution all over the USA.

Matt McMahon

Matt McMahon

President / Managing Partner

Matt operated restaurants from 1975 – 2014. He worked with Norman Brinker Steak & Ale from 1975 – 1980. In 1980 he went on to Chi-Chi’s Mexican restaurants working with Max McGee and Marno McDermott. He started with 4 stores as VP of operations. Matt helped build Chi-Chi’s concept to 267 stores. In 1993 Chris Sullivan and Bob Basham gave Matt the opportunity to franchise Outback Steakhouse in Arizona and New Mexico. Matt was able to contribute to this hot concept at that time by owning 24 very successful, high-volume restaurants. After leaving Outback in 2014, Matt was a consultant to the restaurant industry until 2018.

In September, 2018, as a previous customer and student to Zeco Filtration, Matt joined up with the inventor of Zeco, Conrad Canter, and the founder of S &K, Ross Nitta, to become president and one of the owners. Matt’s experience in the restaurant industry and as a contributor to the invention of the Zeco Filtration, gives him a very unique perspective to adapting operators needs in the food service industry.

Conrad Canter has enjoyed 50 plus years of business life ranging from family businesses, corporate businesses, his own businesses and more. Having proven skillsets that include product research, product development, custom designing, custom building, custom and automated manufacturing production lines, national distribution as well as having skillsets in marketing and sales experience.

Conrad has multiple awards in the paper converting, graphic arts industry as well as being a multiple patent holder that includes the Zeco Oil Filtration Machine.

Hobbies

Bowling, Golfing, traveling, and charities like the WSM 911 Toy Drive.

Family

Nancy - wife of 38 years and son Zachary.

What does Conrad do in his spare time?

If Conrad is not doing something with his wife Nancy or Son Zachary or family or friends, he truly enjoys researching why a product or system does not work the way it is supposed to, our why it can't function the way someone wants it to.

Yes... I do golf, and bowling, my Green Bay Packers. I also like to sometimes just sit back and enjoy my time in my pool, but that is just when I want a break from the hobby, I love of figuring out "WHY NOT".. and "WHAT IF"

Nancy joined S & K Sales as one of the owners in January 2012.  Her current position is Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and Human Resources.

Helping customers and employees through challenges gives Nancy a sense of purpose in her work. She strives every day to help customers know how important they are to us and to make our employees feel as part of our family.

Prior to working at S&K Sales, Nancy lived in Wisconsin and worked as a Policy Processing Technician at West Bend Mutual Insurance. Her experience there motivated her to become an organized, team-orientated person.

Hobbies

When not busy at work, Nancy enjoys bowling, spending time with friends and family, and the Green Bay Packers!

Ryan’s expertise in the oil industry began in 2011 when he started in Arizona as Director of Operations to establish Imperial Western Products footprint in Arizona.

Ryan flooded the Arizona restaurant market with his unique approach to sales and strategy while building bridges to generate revenue between oil, plumbing, and supply material, creating an empire from scratch.

He has earned himself quite a name in the business and feels he is well-bonded with S&K Oil Sales. Collaborating with Conrad’s ingenious products, Matt’s vast knowledge of the restaurant industry, and Ross’ essential resources and strategy, presents a force that will redefine the future of the restaurant oil industry.

In his role as VP of Sales for S&K Oil, Ryan has an ambitious passion and energy that will ensure S&K Oil will be a household name.

Family and a strong work ethic are most important to Ryan.

Hobbies

Enjoys sports, reading world events and news, playing golf, and coaching his son’s sports teams.

Family

Outside of working, Ryan loves spending all his time with his family and raising his three sons.

Zach has been with S & K Sales since 2012 and has grown considerably with the company. He enjoys being a team player and working with customers to make sure their product is shipped and delivered on time and in a professional manner.

Zach tries to go above and beyond each day to make sure the warehouse is organized and runs smoothly. When customers have issues with their Zeco Oil Filtration machines, Zach promptly responds to get them up and running. This has given him a great relationship with S & K customers and they know they can depend on him.

When he is not working, Zach enjoys online gaming, bowling, sports and spending time with family.
